Horror poster inspiration

I chose this poster as it uses a lot of red and when you look at it you can tell it is a horror film, it also gives you and idea of what the film is about.

Has a freaky style to it and looks like a well made poster.

Most people have seen the first halloween so they will recognise the character however even if you haven't seen the first film it looks like a scary horror film that would make you want to go and see it.

The mushrooms against the moon background looks like a skull against the darkness but also has the name "shrooms" which suggests a comical side.

Has great makeup and looks like it is a well made film and looks scary.

Suggests a story of revenge and the "House" is in red which suggest death and danger.

The reflection in the eye is a good effect and creates an eye catching poster.

The dark man in the light suggests mystery and then all the red on the page shows death and danger.

Inspiration for makeup

A large part of the horror genre is the use of makeup to create a large sense of terror or just emptiness to scare the audience.

The use of black eyes creates a sense of emptiness as if their soul is missing.

The cracked face with the stitching on creates mystery of what happened to them and is that why they are evil.

This face from the darkness would strike fear into any one watching

Horror Mood Board

Initial proposal

A promotional package for a new film, to include a trailer, together with two of the following three options:
- a website homepage for the film
- a film magazine front cover featuring the film
- a poster for the film

I want to create a horror film trailer along with a website homepage for the film and the poster for the film.

The horror film will be based on a legend of a man in the woods that kills campers in revenge for a tragedy that happened may years ago and when a group of friends go camping they will find out the legend is true but it will be too late for them

AS Reflection

Strengths
- The font of the masthead is suitable for the genre as it is commonly used within it and this allows for it to be recognised by the target audience.
- I used yellow, red and black as they are colours that contrast each other and make the cover stand out, they are also colours typical of the genre.
- The sub image is made with a yellow background that connects it to the story and makes it look professional.
- I edited the main image so that it did not have any sharp edges and it had a ghosted effect behind the main text.
- I made the contents page with a simple and organised layout so that it was easy as possible for the readers to find what they want.
- On the DPS I used white text on the dark background so that it was easy to read, I used red for the title and the questions so that it fit in with the house style and had the main image looking at the text so that it suggested the reader should too.

Weaknesses
- There is a lot of blank space on the cover.
- The main story has gaps between the band name and the text on yellow.
- The images on the contents page are not very good quality and could have been improved.
- the main image could be more interesting than it is.

Skills
- Through the year I have developed many skills including Photoshop, Blogger and Powtoon.
- On Photoshop I learned a lot of new skills, I learned to edit pictures well and make them look professional and smooth the image.
- I learned how to use Blogger to create my AS blog as well as this one and learned to edit the layout and design to get the colours right and make it look good.
- I learned to use Powtoon to make creative presentations that stand out and have an interactive element.
