Inspirational trailers

The Blair Witch Project - The first teaser trailer created a complete mystery with a good effect by having the camera on in the dark with the crying voice over and apologizing for something that had happened and then the light comes on and she is crying. This leaves the audience wanting to know what happened.
The second teaser trailer gave more insight into the story line and what has happened with the news story showing the camera being found and the tape with 'The Blair witch' on them and broken, at the end one of the clips plays to show them running screaming through the woods. This again leaves the audience wanting to know what has happened to them.

I chose paranormal activity due to the use of camera work and choice of marketing techniques. It uses the reactions of a real audience that were filmed. The trailer and film are shot in a hand held and home video scenario so that the audience feels more involved in the film. The trailer shows some of the different paranormal occurrences that they catch on camera and the reaction of the audience of some others, this shows the audience that it is a scary horror film as some of them are not, It also makes them feel more vulnerable as it makes it seem like it could happen in their own home and that adds to the fear.

I like the Insidious 2 trailer because it starts off slowly as if everything is normal and then things start to happen and it becomes emotionally twisting as the family fight to save themselves from the haunting. The use of lighting throughout the trailer is good as it uses both light and dark scenes so you cant see everything that is going on and then expands on that in the film.
